Let’s define what’s a projection. To project is to: is to estimate, to forecast, to fore-know and all the other synonyms you might affiliate it with. We project, because we think we can put a knowing of the past on the future, with no synchronous intelligence or “real knowing” of what that projected future holds for us. Projections are also the unconscious transmission of one's internal state to the external; from the shadows of the inner unknown into the relativity of the outer known. What we don’t know about ourselves, appears in the environment reflecting that – the illusion of our unconscious. You will see the unseen parts of you, outside of you; Especially in the vicinity of your closest ones.

Common mental states associated with projecting are:

Anxiety: is the energetic state of leaving the present for a mind-made plan to comfort the feelings of uncertainty. The root meaning of the word in Latin is Angere: “To choke, squeeze” /” torment, cause distress” - We all have felt that “choking” feeling when we are anxious – the dread of future and predicted events. That bodily pain is an indicator to what’s going on – emphasis on thought projection and looping, than to root in the present, pause and breathe into that. It’s also associated with the events of the past; For, to predict a known future, is to base it on the knowing of its tail of the past.

So, it’s an oscillating state, neither here nor there. Everywhere, but no-where. And that’s the condition of the frantic mind/monkey mind trying to find a mental place to reside in and not in the reality of the present.

Anticipation is the condition of continuous expectation and prediction. Again, to exit uncertainty of the present. Why is the present uncertain? As you can’t put any mental predictions or recognitions on it. It's only to be felt, to be connected with, related to, aligned with, rooted in. A state of no-thing, providing the ultimate of every-thing. As nothing reflects emptiness – void of prediction – empty to receive, to update and to energize. To anticipate and expect, incessantly, of life is to place mental tags over what is real. It’s a program that we are driven by, so to go against it, is to re-program and there’s resistance to that program/belief change, and that’s where the pain is (where the change needs to happen). To expect is to control a future moment from the experiences of the past – probable and linear. It defeats possibility and synchronicities – ties and imprisons you in mental loops and movies to allow you to stay within the “expectation” script. Mental actions done in advance, without being rooted in the reality of experiencing the act through the body when the time of it happens.

Being excited is also an arousal of feelings about a future event – it has the same emotional charge as anxiety, except the narrative is different. And, that’s what sets our experiences apart, the stories we tell ourselves to feel our emotions. Emotions are universal, they are energetic charges/signatures. The charge carries the stories/thoughts/narratives that feed that energetic wave. Hence, instead of thinking in advance and getting stuck in the same mental loop, the present opens to feel and then to align the thinking with it to be orderly and positioned. The stories, the belief in those stories, are what gives these energies their power over us, as they are just transparent – neutral ones to us. Fear of impermanence, is like fear of death – resistance to change, termination.

When we feel we are projecting, that’s where the power of space, the present, comes in. We are living in space, but when the ability of space comes in to do its work, that’s what the power of the present – infinite intelligence, the life force – the spirit – the breath - that carries the vibrations of pure consciousness. The now, is the unknown to what you know and what the mind projects. Grounding is the gateway to now. To be anchored is to be here, to be here is now and rooted we become. It has all the potentials and aspirations of novel information that is stored in the unconscious and in the infinite wisdom that we reside in. Through the act of breathing and the observance of the process of breathing, we bring in that information into our energetic channels to be internalized and updated. It’s to be natural. The ultimate act of becoming. By creating space, the energetic charge to drive the projecting state dissipates and that’s where our perspective changes.

Not to mistake projecting with visualization: One is done with the power of focus and imagination, to bring forward a possible future, from the present into the reality of the physical dimension. To make it happen; by invoking and sensing the feelings of abundance to materialize. While the other is an expectation out of the present into cyclical cognition. One is seeing, the other is rotating through metal tales. Seeing is believing and believing is what we manifest. To be focused on that event, to see it to bring into existence versus just declaring that you want and need. Saying over acting.

Projections want to know when this will happen. But, life can’t provide that. We are only habituated to know when, as to know when this will conclude, is a result – a means to an end. Processes and cycles don’t have a definitive when nor an end-goal. There's struggle to accept that, to consent that you don’t have the knowledge in your rational mind – with the limited mental faculties and experiences in life over the order and chaos of the universe. Socrates said: “I know that I know nothing”. A lot of mental effort is spent to know, when the knowing is only there, just here, to be acknowledged and integrated – felt - and not thought about. Respecting and being aware that we don’t, opens the door for possibilities and synchronicities due to the unfolding to receive.

Then, to allow that knowing to be known, is to take your faith into your own hands and surrender to it. To allow energy from the un-knowing parts to vitalize the body to receive that knowing, by releasing the mental tension that is involved in wind-milling thoughts into delusions of projecting. We come back, the present – the now, the surrendering is the way. The spirit, the breath, is that force. However, these are conditioned states that are part of our cognitive selves. The play is not to lurk in the projection of potential, which deludes our reality; But, to learn why are we being urged to anticipate and worry and face the fear heads-on to release that enmeshment of planned security.

I refer to all of the above as normal states we endure as humans. It's the chronic immersion in those states that defies our nature.

The process of healing is the liberation of our consciousness from the dominating and unprocessed energies/experiences of the past, to simply, but powerfully, embrace the present at every occasion possible – that's the realization we spoke about in the previous chapter and will continuously refer back to – the acknowledgment of the purity of the moment, through awareness. To awaken to the awareness of the now – the present. Domination is limitation (or segregation) and creates tension which becomes meddled with our pure consciousness: Raw energy, flowing. That involves raising energy and recycling the current pool of stale energy and changing of thoughts/narratives, that are stuck within this pool. Being in the present, is being spiritual – present and concurrent with your breath and being– that's the state of nurturance for our soul. Moments of peace and equanimity can be found in the finest slices of the day, if we pay attention to those spaces and focus to expand them.

We separate from trusting towards the need to do, because of doubt. Doubt is a natural thing within us, it resists and feeds on fear. The mastery to play with doubt to learn from the fears it attaches to, to transform our abilities to trust and have patience. We project, because we doubt it will happen. But, trust it will and remain with the power of patience. If you trust in the realm of the present to deliver, why project? Just imagine that despite the doubt that plays the part of the resistor, you trust in your actions, as you are the awareness that runs them – how powerfully synchronous that is?

So, to practice being present and in the now, meditation or any sort of silent and personal contemplation is required to balance the Self. At times, even non-doing, to actually just sit there in silence and allow whatever is happening to happen, not even watching the breath or focusing on anything – just being in the space you reside in.

Short statements to empower your reflection on this matter:

  • "Little do ye know your own blessedness; for to travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive, and the true success is to labour." - Robert Louis Stevenson.

All wisdom leads to the process and not the destination.

  • Expectation is the robber of real experiences; so is over-thinking.

  • To see is to experience, experience is perspective, perspective is the tight window that we see in the mind of the source and feel in the soma of the universe.

  • Healing is the angle understanding and discernment of what we are projecting onto others; as part of personal/external personality. Healing is the process of remembrance. Re-member, to put together the members of our existence back its original state.

  • My capacity as a human is to forgive, but can’t help at times to forget, which brings me closer to my core.

  • Everything that passes through your experience, becomes part of you. What you watch, engage in, engage with, listen to, read, all the things you do. What are you consciously processing on a daily basis to your relevance?

  • Rarely are prayers dedicated at what is going on in the petitioner by the petitioner.

  • Life is to be lived and cultivated while living – in all means. Every organism’s goal in life is to survive. We have advanced from survival mode to grow and develop our existence and intelligence – but, it’s related to consciousness – The present intelligence and true knowing.

  • Feel, without referencing to a thought in time - a past narrative – why you must or must not feel that. Truly feel. Be the mystic. Be the sentient.

  • The greater the anxiety, the greater is the need to control it. But, the suffering is in how much you want to control. The only way out, is in and the resignation to it.

  • What we have against each other, is nothing short of what we have against ourselves.

From my heart to yours, Peace in and peace out.
