Terra Incognita...

That’s the term Romans used for parts of the empire that they haven’t ventured into before - unknown lands.
The Terra Incognita of Humans, is the vastness of unchartered territories within our minds. We fear what we don’t know, so we fear parts of our minds that we haven’t seen yet – which relates to unknown experiences in our physical reality. I say see, because seeing is the illumination of knowing. To see, is to know and then from there, you can experience that thought.
Fear is the primal emotion that initiated the process of our evolution, our species. Fear is what pushed us to transform and mature. Our ancestors understood and acted on fear, they didn’t avoid it.
When we avoid fear, our basic survival emotion, then we are stuck in struggle mode. Fear arises, we bypass it (by the many habits that we have), so the fear stays there – lurking in the subtle layers of your consciousness, playing its part (avoidance to feel it) and controlling our behavior (passivity). Instead of inviting fear to understand its informational signpost, we numb the feelings of it – to remain comfortable in the same regions of the mind that we are “safe” in – the known lands. Past experiences - Repetitive and looping thought patterns.
But, it’s all yours. It’s your mind, your path, your life – without acting on fear, humans would not have evolved. Without healthy frustration, there’s no breaking limitations to create new paths.
We are such majestic and powerful beings, that we negate that nobility with remaining in survival mode. We don’t know what to do with this power of awareness – the thinking about thinking – to be aware of awareness. With this comes the fear of our Grander Self, our source, we just don’t feel worthy and secure enough to handle our universal aspect – our life force.
So, we become comfortably numb – not feeling, always fearing to feel - struggling with our own emotions.
As we are creative beings, if we didn’t have much repressed doubt, uncertainty and fear, our words have intelligent and energetic charges to them - we relate to the previous topic of I and AM. What we say and think is embodied overtime. Right or wrong, we have been bred with doubt over faith. How much are you able to play with your doubts and see the faithfulness beyond that?
But, why leave it to time to notice, to be aware? When we are unable to change thought, we can override with action – and that’s stepping into your own terra incognita. To cultivate new pastures.
To cultivate your ability, your valor, your knowing. All of this is hidden, by you, in the darker realms of the brain – where the neurons haven’t fired in that compartment, since you have lost touch with those regions. To reclaim ownership of your own territories.
Instead of waging war, invite the repressed to a conciliation session – listen to their needs and what’s needed to bring about peace. Feel and reveal.
Since we label our energies with “voices/narratives”, you will notice that what tones down the fear of being in the unknown, is to step in it. To show up. The only way out, is in – by showing up, you befriend your own fears , which shows you the intensities of the energetic frequencies that have been severed, by losing conscious touch with them. You're no longer a stranger in your mind and body.
While healing is spoken about in many classifications and modalities – it all leads back to vulnerability, the safety to be with one’s own thoughts and feelings. Relating to previous conversations, it’s creating space – holding that space – to see what’s in the outside, is triggering the sensations of fear within you... By seeing what's happening inside, you start to feel these dissonant energies that are knocking on your conscious door to release them – to free (love) them from the shadow realm. The shadow, the dark, the terra incognita is where it all starts and ends. You can’t be the King and Queen of the lands in sight, it’s also the lands that are out of sight without your territory (limits of your body/mind)
Philosophy in Greek and Roman times was a way of life – a design for the living; now we see it more as an academic or intellectual discipline. But, how do we bring philosophy into practicality, in a time where we are so fearful, doubtful and separated – to realize our possibilities, by altering our belief systems to suit the nature of our being. To transform is to let go, to destroy what was thought of previously (the image of yourself), to pave way for a renewed state of mind - forgiveness and reconciliation.
This is always going to be a process of chaos (transformation) into order (integration). These cycles are happening within yourself and outside of yourself – this is the nature of energy.
Back to the first topic, to reclaim our bodies, our energy, our power, our freedom, by aligning ourselves with our original state/design - the state of source, the way, the Tao.
No one can ever tell you who you are within you, we’ve been used to knowing ourselves from stories we tell ourselves and others, but you are only to be known by experiencing your own territories and unlocking layers of yourself.
Let's end this section with a Zen story about the mutual arising of fear:
“ In feudal Japan, during the civil wars, an invading army would quickly sweep into a town and take control. In one particular village, everyone fled just before the army arrived - everyone except the Zen master. Curious about this old fellow, the general went to the temple to see for himself what kind of man this master was. When he wasn’t treated with the deference and submissiveness to which he was accustomed, the general burst into anger.
“You fool,” he shouted as he reached for his sword, “don’t you realize you are standing before a man who could run you through without blinking an eye!”
But despite the threat, the master seemed unmoved.
“And do you realize,” the master replied calmly, “that you are standing before a man who can be run through without blinking an eye?”
Be brave and tackle your terra incognita.
From my heart to yours,
Peace in and Peace out.
